Alberto motors is fueled by the desire to bring innovative and sustainable change within a very mature market. Proposing a new way of consuming based on practices that converge on values offairness, sustainability andinclusion, has been our mission since 2016.
Extending the lifespan of machines, providing alternatives to new machines and developing the second-hand market are the cornerstones of our ecological approach.
Measuring our climate impact
To measure our commitment today, the only relevant indicator is avoided emissions.
Calculating the emissions avoided by our services and thus quantifying the company's positive impact on the greenhouse gas emissions of our ecosystem has become one of our priorities.
9.2 tonnes of CO₂e avoided
Carbone 4, an independent consultancy specializing in low-carbon strategy, carried out a study to measure the environmental impact of our engine replacement services .
By comparing the emissions of our services with a reference scenario, in our case the replacement of the machine in the event of engine failure, we were able to obtain tangible data on the emissions avoided.
According to Carbone 4, after 5,000 hours of use, replacing the engine of an agricultural tractor with a new, reconditioned or second-hand enginesaves 7.2, 9.7 and 10.8 CO₂e respectively compared with buying a tractor.
These data are based on the breakdown of new/used agricultural tractor registrations in France in 2021. No emissions are considered for the manufacture of a used engine.
However, these results are highly sensitive to the additional service life enabled by engine replacement, and should be treated with caution as they do not take tractor usage into account.
Impact from 40 hours of use
The emissions avoided by replacing the engine are very sensitive to the longer tractor life enabled by this solution. Nevertheless, the second-hand solution remains the most virtuous.
Opting for a used engine avoids emissions from as little as 40 additional hours of use, unlike a reconditioned engine from 600h and a new engine from 1700h.
Although the life of an engine may depend on its condition (new, reconditioned or used), engine replacement can be carried out several times during the life of a tractor. So that the emissions avoided by a used engine remain higher than those avoided by a new one.
Assuming that new, reconditioned and used engines have respective lifetimes of 9,000, 6,000 and 3,000 hours, their use as a replacement for a failed engine saves 15.9, 17.8 and 19.4 tCO2e respectively , compared with the purchase of a tractor.
By providing tangible data on the environmental efficiency of our solutions, we support committed players in implementingactions that are as meaningful as they are effective.
